In the remote mountains of Gansu, the desperate search for help compels families to travel for hours, even days.
Their children, affected by cleft lip and/or palate, struggle to nurse and cannot speak clearly.
Sadly, many of these children are hidden away, living in shame.
Amidst extreme poverty, fathers often work far from home to provide. The journey to the hospital, however long, is undertaken with immense hope for their precious babies.

LWB's Unity Initiative exists to assist families such as these so that their children may receive the medical care that they so desperately need.
Currently, we have 12 children waiting to receive a cleft repair.
We know more will come to the hospital in the weeks ahead.
That is why, this week, we are raising $50,000 to provide life-changing cleft surgery for each waiting child and to be ready for the next child who arrives.
