That is the heartbreaking reality for thousands of children who are suffering from painful hernias in rural areas of Uganda. Where medical care is scarce, a hernia can mean months, even years, of enduring pain that makes even the simplest activities hard.

An estimated 20% of children
need surgical care in Uganda's rural regions.
Yet, access is severely limited.
As of 2024, Uganda has only nine fellowship-trained pediatric surgeons.
Even when families can access a surgeon,
many cannot afford the cost of care.

Without surgery, a hernia can lead to lifelong pain, severe complications, and even life-threatening emergencies.
Through the support of the Love Without Boundaries community, more than 1,700 children have already been healed through past hernia missions.
